Our approach to sustainability

We have a multi generational vision is to improve the livelihoods of Zimbabweans in a sustainable way, and beyond generations. We are committed to supporting and contributing to the society and the communities in our operational areas and prevent them from harmful practices related to work. We value the safety, health and well-being of the society that we work with. Our policies, operations, work plans are configured to ensure sustainability, effectiveness, safety and secure livelihoods.

Health

We work to Improve the health and well-being of our employees and the communities in our operational areas and safeguard the health priorities of Zimbabweans. Our entities in the four clusters of Gold, Energy, PGMs and Bulk Commodities provide primary healthcare services to communities in their operational areas. We provide with healthcare services to more than a million people in all our operational areas. We also work in partnership with local and national healthcare providers and related stakeholders to improve health outcomes for Zimbabweans. Kuvimba Mining House and its entities have invariably donated in cash and kind to rehabilitate and improve local and national health infrastructure.

KMH has a robust wellness programme aimed to promote employee and community health, named Wellness Beyond Generations . This annual programme puts KMH and its entities at the forefront of promoting positive a wellness culture and shining the spotlight on health burdens the society struggles with.


Safety

We work to be an industry leader on Zero harm and Zero Fatalities in our operational areas. We uphold Zero harm as a core value of KMH and its entities. We have a robust policy framework that is closely enforced, resulting in multiple awards for some of our. entities. Shamva Mine achieved a milestone of 1million fatality free shifts in 2023.


Environment

We foster a sustainable environment for future generations through; promoting safe environments for the communities we work in, rehabilitation of our operational areas and promoting tree planting and uphold environment protection ideals that safeguard our staff and stakeholders. KMH entities has rehabilitated over 50kms of road works in our operational areas and has a robust tree planting programme.


Education and Empowerment

We work to expand opportunities for education and professional development for individuals and local businesses. We operate a business inclusion policy that promotes active participation of local businesses in our operational areas. We provide learning opportunities for students from across the higher education spectrum of Zimbabwe. Annually , KMH and entities provide with work experience opportunities for over 100 students in various educational disciplines . We also pay for University fees and upkeep for 5 students from disadvantaged background at the University of Zimbabwe.
